February has few attractions, other than it gets us to March, the prospect of Easter, and a definite change in the light.

But, here on Lake Windermere, February does produce some wonderful morning mists…

Boats slide gracefully into view, with a mystery and elegance that no digital effect can produce.

There is also a quality of silence… like no other season. As though everything is waiting.

I love water, and could easily live on a boat, Steve. Those morning mists are a welcome sight!

February has always been a favorite month. I like the silence of winter. Although right now, the wind is howling!

It does have its merits. So, far, it’s rained every day of the month, here … but we are the greenest place in England! 😊

There is a magic in the mist, as you know Steve. We can’t always identify what it is exactly but we a feel it. Some say they find it uneasy, even frightening, but I have always felt it is a portal.

I think ‘portal’ is perfect, Chris! Mists are far more mysterious than fogs.
